Embrace Today, Hope for Tomorrow, Laugh at Yesterday

The quote "Live for today, love for tomorrow, and laugh at all your yesterdays. Never regret the past, always hope for the future, and cherish every moment you have." is attributed to Anuj Dua, originally shared on YourQuote in August 2017. ✨ Live. Love. Laugh. Learn. Repeat. ✨

The other day, I came across something I had scribbled into a notebook a long time ago, possibly during one of those “chai latte and existential crisis” afternoons:

"Live for today, love for tomorrow and laugh at all your yesterdays. Never regret the past, always hope for the future and cherish every moment you have."

At first glance, it feels like the kind of thing you'd find embroidered on a cushion or framed in a beach house bathroom. But the more I sat with it, the more it made sense — not as a Pinterest quote, but as a life compass.

🧭 A Little Philosophy Behind the Quote

Live for today – because no amount of planning can outwit life’s surprises (ask me about the time my “quick errand” turned into an unplanned hiking expedition in sandals).

Love for tomorrow – because hope without heart feels hollow. Loving forward is what gives meaning to our goals and dreams.

Laugh at all your yesterdays – and I mean all. Even the ones with the bad haircuts, awkward texts and those “what was I thinking?!” moments. They’re the blooper reels that make your story more human.

😂 Funny But True

Once scheduled a 7am Zoom call thinking I’d wake up at 6. My cat woke me up at 8:15 by sitting on the laptop. Technically, he showed up on time — I didn’t.

Tried “living for today” by saying yes to a spontaneous outdoor yoga class. Forgot I had zero balance and ended up inventing a new pose: The Rolling Water Bottle.

Cherishing every moment? Let’s just say I now take screenshots of my food before realizing I left the filter on “Paris” and the nasi lemak turned neon.

❤️ The Heart of It

We often beat ourselves up for what we didn’t do right, for opportunities missed or for not being the person we should have been. But the past is done. What matters now is presence, intention and a willingness to keep going — preferably with snacks.

So here’s to living with purpose, loving with heart and laughing with grace. May we regret less, hope more and never forget to savour this wildly unpredictable ride called life.
