The Art of Personal Blogging

This blog post is an original, personal reflection on the author’s use of Blogspot, Facebook and Instagram. It explains the purpose of each platform, highlights how the author engages with them, and contrasts them with TikTok and X, which are not used. While similar discussions exist online about social media and personal blogging, the combination of platforms, experiences and narrative style is unique. The post offers insight into intentional, meaningful online activity rather than trends or virality.

Why I’m “Active” on Blogspot, Facebook & Instagram 🖋️📸💻

Once upon a time, I was an avid letter writer 📬. Long, thoughtful letters, sometimes stretching over pages, sent to family and friends just to keep them in the loop of my life. Ah, the good old days of ink and paper… ✒️💌 Fast forward to today and social media has become my modern-day mailbox — minus the stamps and delayed delivery.

Each platform has its own focus, though they overlap in many ways:

Blogspot (Blogger)
  • Platform for creating, publishing and organizing written content online.
  • Purpose: to provide a digital space for personal journaling, reflections, storytelling, insights and curated ideas.
  • Strength: easy publishing, organized archives, customizable layout, integration with Google services.
For me, Blogspot is where I explore insights, jot down interests and record anything that catches my attention 🖋️💡. It’s more than updates; it’s a thoughtful space for reflection and long-form content, where my brain spills over into the digital world.

Facebook
  • Originally built to connect friends and family.
  • Purpose today: community building, information sharing, group discussions, events, business promotion and ads.
  • Strength: broad demographic reach, private groups, marketplace.
For me, Facebook is my personal archive, private journal and little memory vault 🗃️. It’s where I quietly post photos, reflections and updates for family and friends who actually care. Think of it as a scrapbook crossed with a Journal — without the paper cuts.

Instagram
  • Focuses on visual storytelling through photos and short videos.
  • Purpose: self-expression, lifestyle showcasing, brand building and influencer marketing.
  • Strength: aesthetics, trends, shopping integration.
Instagram is my “quick update” spot 📷⚡. Most of my posts are lateposts (because life gets busy and timing is overrated anyway 😅). It’s where I share small snapshots or moments I want others to see without turning my life into a highlight reel. No TikTok dances or viral trends here — just me being me.

TikTok
  • Short-form video platform with strong entertainment and trend culture.
  • Purpose: quick, engaging content, viral challenges, music-driven videos and discovery via algorithm.
  • Strength: high virality, creative tools, young audience engagement.
I’ve never tried TikTok, and honestly, it holds little value for me 🚫📱.

X (formerly Twitter)
  • Microblogging platform for real-time updates.
  • Purpose: news, opinions, discussions and direct interactions between public figures and audiences.
  • Strength: speed of information, trending topics, public discourse.
X also isn’t part of my world — I prefer slower, more thoughtful sharing.

In short
  • Blogspot → reflection, insights & long-form content
  • Facebook → communities & connections
  • Instagram → lifestyle & visuals
  • TikTok → entertainment & trends
  • X → real-time news & conversations

So yes, I’m “active” online — but it’s not what most people imagine. It’s not noise or constant scrolling. It’s connection, memory, sharing insights and keeping the spirit of letter writing alive in a modern, digital form. It’s my personal way of saying: “Here’s a piece of my life — take it, enjoy it, or just smile and move on.” 😌

In essence, social media isn’t just for popularity or trends. For me, it’s a modern letter, a scrapbook and a journal rolled into one — with a sprinkle of wit, a dash of reflection and a lot of heart 💛.
