Pretending to scold,

But that slight smile would’ve said it all.

I’ve been thinking of you more than usual,

That this date still belongs to you.

You never liked the spotlight,

But you lit up our world just by being in it.

I carry you in quiet ways —

In the strength you taught without words,

In the grace you showed

When life gave you no ease.

You were steady, always. Even when I wasn’t.

There’s so much I never got to say.

But my love for you never needed perfect timing.
